Second Workshop of the Global Risk Modelling Alliance (GRMA) Programme in Costa Rica
A Country Workshop took place in San José on April 24-25, 2024, bringing together a diverse group of stakeholders. The event served as a forum for co-developing risk understanding for climate and disaster risk finance and insurance.
The primary objective of this workshop was to actively engage representatives from the Public Administration and experts from Costa Rica in response to Costa Rica’s interest in receiving support with models and data under the GRMA programme. Within the workshop, a work program was developed to support the request submitted by SUGESE earlier this year.
The workshop aimed to achieve the following objectives:
· Finalise decisions on the strategic and operational projects that will receive support in models and data and capability development.
· Identify key institutions and support structures for the implementation of each project.
The workshop represented a significant step forward in Costa Rica’s efforts to strengthen its resilience to natural disasters and other related risks.
Many thanks to our host the Superintendencia General de Seguros (SUGESE) for their invaluable contribution in ensuring the workshop’s success and to our colleagues from the Insurance Development Forum, Global Shield against Climate Risks, Climate Vulnerable Forum (CVF) & Vulnerable Twenty Group (V20), and Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) for their support and collaboration throughout the event.
